Ứng dụng Grammar vào Speaking – Unit 6: Family – Ngữ pháp: Word Order

I. Luyện nói Part 1

1.  Do you have a large or small family?

keep in touch: liên lạc với nhau

family gathering: tụ tập gia đình

My immediate family is rather small but I have a close-knit extended family with many cousins, uncles and aunts. We live quite close and we all keep in touch with one another. On holidays, we have big family gatherings which are always fun and exciting

2. Do you get along well with your family?

Từ vựng gợi ý:

get on well with sb: hoà hợp với ai

supportive: hỗ trợ/ động viên caring: quan tâm

disagreement: bất đồng

take things too far: để mọi chuyện đi quá xa

have one’s best interest in mind: mong muốn điều tốt đẹp cho ai

Yes, I get on very well with my family members. They are positive, supportive ,caring and they gave me the freedom to follow my dreams . My parents are also good listeners so whenever I have problems, I usually turn to them. I would not say that we never had any disagreement but we never take things too far. In the end I know that they have love for me and they always have my best interest in mind.

3. What sorts of things do you like to do together?

Từ vựng gợi ý:

family time: thời gian dành cho gia đình

rewarding: rất thoả mãn

make sth from scratch: tự làm món gì

share stories: chia sẻ các câu chuyện với nhau

board game: trò chơi dạng giống cá ngựa hoặc cờ tỷ phú (có bàn cờ và quân cờ di chuyển, thường có xúc xắc)

For me, family time is very special and rewarding. We usually have a family gathering on the weekends. It is usually a dinner party where we make dishes from scratch and share the meal together. During the meal we talk about our week and share our plans for the following week. After dinner we may enjoy a movie or play a board game. It is always a fun time.

II. Luyện nói Part 3

1. In what ways have families in your country changed recently?

Từ vựng gợi ý:

reduced in size: giảm kích thước

tend to: có xu hướng làm gì

role of: vai trò của

provide for the family: chu cấp cho gia đình

expected to: kỳ vọng điều gì

divided equally: phân chia công bằng

both spouses: cả hai vợ chồng

I think there are two big changes. The first is that families have reduced in size. In the past, people wanted to have a lot of children but now people usually want only one or two. So families now tend to be smaller. The second is that the role of husbands and wives has changed as well. Husbands used to work to provide for the family, while their wives were expected to take care of the home. In recent times, these roles are divided equally among both spouses.

2. What are the roles of grandparents in your country?

Từ vựng gợi ý:

respected: được coi trọng

in charge of: chịu trách nhiệm cái gì

care-givers: người chăm sóc

affectionate towards: thể hiện nhiều tình cảm với

babysit: trông trẻ

feeding them: cho chúng ăn

keeping them entertained: giữ ai đó vui vẻ

childcare provider: người cung cấp dịch vụ trông trẻ

In my country, grandparents are the most respected people in a family so they are in charge of many decisions and they give very good advice to the young. I also think grandparents are great care-givers because they are so affectionate towards and caring to their grandchildren. Grandparents usually help babysit children when the parents are at work or busy, whether it is feeding them or keeping them entertained or even taking them to school. In many cases, grandparents are the main childcare provider so I think the role of all the grandfathers and grandmothers out there is very important.
