Bước 1. Dictation

Ở Bước 1, các bạn hãy nghe audio và chép chính tả đoạn hội thoại được ghi âm

I just wondered if you’d thought about what you were going to do with the money your grandfather left you.

Well, I have started to give it some thought.

It’s quite a lot of money so I want to make sure I don’t just waste it.

I had thought about leaving it in the bank for a while.

Well, unless you invest it properly, you won’t earn much interest and it may lose value over time.

Yes, but if I invest it, I won’t be able to access the money quickly when I’ve decided what to do with it, will I?

Bước 2. Phonetic Transcription

Ở Bước số 2, các bạn hãy tra từ điển và ghi lại phiên âm của đoạn chép chính tả trên vào trong sách của mình.

Ví dụ: 

Dictation: This   is   what  I   call     the  great   outdoors.   Look  at  that   stunning view!
Phonetics: /ðɪs/ /ɪz/ /wʌt/ /aɪ/ /kɑːl/ /ðə/ /greɪt/ /ˈaʊt dɔrz/./lʊk/ /æt/ /ðæt/ /ˈstʌnɪŋ/ /vju/   

Dictation: This  is    truly     jaw- dropping. We’re  in  the    middle   of   one    of   the 
Phonetics: /ðɪs/ /ɪz/  /ˈtruli/ /ˈdʒɑːˌdrɑː.pɪŋ/ /wir/ /ɪn/ /ðə/ /ˈmɪdəl/ /əv/ /wʌn/ /əv/ /ðə/ 

Dictation: most       pristine    areas    of   the    world      where      wildlife     lives    in    
Phonetics: /moʊst/ /ˈprɪstin/ /ˈeriəz/ /əv/ /ðə/ /wɜːrld/  /wer/    /ˈwaɪld.laɪf/    /lɪvz/ /ɪn/

Dictation:  its    natural        habitat.
Phonetics: /ɪts/ /ˈnæʧərəl/ /ˈhæbəˌtæt/

Lưu ý: Các bạn nên làm Bước số 2 ra giấy thay vì làm trên máy tính hoặc điện thoại bởi việc ghi chép phiên âm sẽ tiện lợi và giúp chúng ta nhớ mặt phiên âm hơn nhiều so với việc gõ lại trên máy tính hay điện thoại. 

Bước 3. Recording

Ở Bước số 3, các bạn hãy ghi âm lại từng câu trong trong đoạn Nghe chép chính tả ở Bước 1 và đối chiếu với Audio gốc.

Chú ý: 

  • Mũi tên lên xuống thể hiện sự lên giọng hoặc hạ giọng đối với từng từ. 
  • Cố gắng nói liền các từ với nhau, không để bị ngắt câu. Các vị trí có thể ngắt câu được thể hiện bằng dấu gạch dưới (__).

Father: I 🡹just wondered__ if you’d thought about__ what you were going to do __with the money__ your 🡹grandfather left you.

Simon: Well, I 🡹have started __to give it some thought. 

It’s 🡹quite a lot of 🡻money__ so I 🡹want to make sure __I don’t just 🡹waste it.

Father: 🡻Well🡹, unless you invest it 🡹properly🡹, you won’t earn much interest __and it may 🡹lose value __over time🡹.

Simon: Yes, but if I in🡹vest it, I won’t be able to 🡹access__ the money 🡹quickly __when I’ve decided__ what to 🡹do with it, 🡹will 🡻I?
