Yes, I love to create art pieces (tác phẩm nghệ thuật), specifically paintings. It never fails to brighten up my day (Khiến t ôi vui) when I get to paint, and while doing it, I forget all my tensions (căng thẳng) and stress.
Vietnamese people enjoy a variety of recreational activities (các hoạt động giải trí) in their spare time. In general, we enjoy listening to music on music streaming platforms (những nền tảng phát nhạc) like Zing MP3 or Spotify since they provide a wide choice of (các lựa chọn đa dạng) songs for free.
Traveling is another hobby that has recently gained popularity (trở nên phổ biến). People can explore magnificent scenery (phong cảnh tuyệt đẹp) and extend their horizons (mở mang kiến thức) by traveling to different regions of the country.

Talk about your favorite hobby. You should say:
- What is it?
- How long have you been doing it?
- Who do you do it with?
And explain why this is important to you?
Today, I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite hobbies. It is reading. To tell you the truth, I’m an avid reader (một người rất thích đọc sách), and I enjoy reading books for a couple of reasons.
The first one is the sense of fulfillment (cảm giác thỏa mãn) it brings me. Books provide me with different worldviews that never fail to interest me . After finishing a book, I feel like I am a completely different person, and my perspective (góc nhìn, quan điểm) on life shifts.
The second reason is that reading as a habit sharpens my mind (khiến trí óc tôi nhạy bén hơn) . It is well aware that reading strengthens our brain muscles. By reading books, we can make informed decisions (ra quyết định dựa trên việc đã biết thông tin gì đó). What’s more? I can remember many meaningful quotes I got from reading and I could use them to impress my friends.
Furthermore, books cover a wide range of topics (bao phủ nhiều chủ đề) ranging from the most common topics to the most abstract (trừu tượng) ones. There are financial books, inspirational books, cooking books, business-related books, biographies (fictional and non-fictional), and so on.
While most people find reading boring, reading is like a calling to me. It’s just something that comes naturally to me. I’ve made it a habit (nó đã trở thành một thói quen của tôi) to read at least a chapter before going to bed. I read late at night, especially on weekends, and only stop when my head becomes too drowsy (ngủ gà ngủ gật) to continue. Frankly, the majority of my free time is spent on reading, and it’s the way I can relax and unwind.

From what I have seen from people around me, I think it certainly has. People nowadays feel obliged to (cảm thấy phải làm gì) work longer and spend more time making money. In turn, this shortens the already little time they have for themselves to spend on hobbies.
Though people may argue that with the abundance of modern conveniences, having a hobby is much easier. I suppose that even if we can get access to more activities, we still have much less time for them. And it’s unfortunate since being able to let off steam after work and having your mind engaged are such important aspects of human life.
Certainly, anything can be harmful when taken to extremes (cái gì quá cũng không tốt). I have heard of people risking their lives and fortune for their hobbies. It is when you can’t distinguish between a hobby and an obsession that you will start to lose control of it. For instance, some people have the hobby of traveling to and playing at the Casino on the weekend. You can tell how easy that can turn into an addiction (nghiện) without being given any restraints.
I think the concept of a worthless hobby (sở thích vô ích) is rare. Most hobbies people have teach them useful skills that they can utilize and benefit others. But if I have to pick one, I will say doing crossword puzzles is a rather weird way to spend your free time. You may learn trivial (nhỏ nhặt, lặt vặt) and irrelevant facts, and complex words, but other than that, there isn’t much you can get out of (không có nhiều thứ bạn có thể đạt được từ) being really good at crossword puzzles.
