Eating out has become an indispensable part of our modern life due to a variety of reasons. It may be the case that you have been working hard all day long and are too exhausted by the time you get home to cook, let alone do any dishwashing afterwards. Another scenario is family celebration or friends’ get together. These are important events that call for a lavish/slap-up meal, for which cooking at home can hardly cut it.
The answer rests on the type of restaurant you’re talking about. If you usually visit high-end restaurants for example, chances are you’d be seen an affluent person who can afford lavish meals, and your social status would improve accordingly in this regard. But if it’s nothing more than a diner you’re grabbing a bite at, then it is just an alternative choice to cooking and cleaning up stuff at home when you don’t feel like it. Since both dining out and eating in serve to fill your belly in this case, there’s no difference as to the status that each earns.
As far as I’m concerned, homemade variety of food would fare better than restaurant cuisine in the eyes of food consumers, at least how it is in Vietnam. To start with, it is generally believed that homemade food healthy and nutritious. Diseases related to one’d diet such as obesity and heart-related diseases are contained as we can control calories intake we consume through carefully chosen ingredients in each dish. For example, just by changing my diet to include lean protein, whole grains and plenty of fresh vegetables in a meal, I’ve been able to lose some weight and avoid the risk of obesity. By comparison, the restaurant variety of food can be over-sauced, over-salted or even over rich (in cooking oil). all of these which may lead to debilitating health problems on the long term.

I will tell you about a restaurant that I patronize/frequent. As a foodie, I love to taste all the various types of food (from different parts of the town), but I only have the luxury of time to dine out at the weekend, when I can have the whole day to myself. Among the restaurants I frequent in town, my favorite is a Western-style one situated right in the center of/at the heart of my neighborhood. The location comes in handy to me as it;s just a ten-minute walk from my house. This restaurant is part of a restaurant chain founded by a young Vietnamese entrepreneur, who apparently spent several years studying and working abroad before heading back Vietnam to realize his dream, that is opening a Western-style restaurant adapted to Vietnamese tasters.
Even first-time customers/diners would immediately be able to tell it apart by its distinctive big signboard hanging above the front door, showing the name of the restaurant “URBAN RETRO”. The first floor is spacious and can accommodate up to 50 guests. This capacity allows it to eater for important occasions like birthday ceremonies, family get-together parties, and so on.
The restaurant has to levels, but I prefer to go upstairs, where it has a perfect view of flow of passing pedestrians on the street outside. Besides, what impressed me even further is the sleek interior decoration, which is modeled after Renaissance architecture style with gorgeous features such as candle-burning chandelier, marble sculpture and mosaic floors.
Furthermore, the highly trained staff also offers excellent services with a hospitable/friendly attitude. Every time I make an order, even if it’s just an additional side dish, the waiter is quick to put down my order with a warm smile on his face. Another bonus is the quick service. I’ve never had to wait for more than 10 minutes for any dish, even during peak hours. This is probably how the restaurant set itself apart from other slow-service restaurants in town. Last but definitely not least, the restaurant has a diversified menu with a wide selection of both Western-style cuisine and local specialties; all are set at a reasonable price. One of the must-try dish is Creamy Mushroom Spaghetti Carbonara, and I’ve got to tell you: it is truly out of this world. It would blow my mind with its fresh ingredients and special mushroom sauce from Vietnam.
In a word, I would definitely like to recommend this restaurant to others for its capacity, modern decoration, and the tasty menu that can satisfy eve the most demanding food critics.
